I’m Michael Anson, an emerging fiction writer who hopes to be placed on the bookshelf next to one of my favorite writers, Jane Austen.  She represents all I aspire to, in particular her ability to choose the right word for the right moment.

As an undergrad at St. John’s University in Minnesota, I majored in English.  Later, I got a Master of Arts degree from the University of Chicago.  Since then, I have returned to my first love, writing, and I’m currently enrolled in Northwestern University’s Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program in creative writing.

It’s hard sometimes to figure out how what I write is daring, unique, or different from others, but I believe that immersing myself in a writing career is the best way to counteract the nagging perfectionist within me.

Mother Teresa says it best:  “Greatness lies not in doing extraordinary things, but in doing ordinary things extraordinarily well.”
